What is something you wanted to do this summer but never got around to?

“I wanted to go to the Sears Tower, do the architectural tour on the river, go shopping on Michigan Avenue. I wanted to golf at Marovitz, lift weights at the gym on North Avenue Beach, have lunch at Castaways, do the Midnight Run bike race. Really, the only thing I did was the triathalon.”

“Lollapalooza is definitely up there, but there was one day I had free and my boyfriend and I were going to go to the zoo and see all the animals, to the conservatory and then to the beach. I was so excited to have the day to ourselves, and then I got called in to work. The day was lost right there.”

“I wanted to go kayaking on the Chicago River, take a jet-ski out on Lake Michigan and play dodgeball at the rink on North Avenue Beach. And none of it happened.”

“I wanted to sign up for some dance classes and go crazy dancing every weekend this summer, but I got in a skiing accident and couldn’t. I’m well now, but I missed out on finding the perfect dance partner.”

“I wanted to go on a tropical vacation — anywhere. I just wanted to take time off work. I said I was going to take off work over Labor Day, and then I just didn’t. How awful is that?”

“Well in looking back at this summer, I wonder where the heck it went frankly. Like many people in their late 20s early 30s, there is a proportionate time slot of the summer that must be designated to your friends bachelorette parties, baby showers, weddings and 30th birthdays, so you never really get as much free time as you once did before, but it is always a great time to get together for those events — just in case my chums ready this! What I really missed this summer is my first year in about eight of no Jimmy Buffett concert at Alpine. That was a bummer, as I always dig the “Parrot Head” tailgating at Alpine. Also missed the Retro on Roscoe festival in my hood, which I have never been to, but hear it is a blast. My hubby and I went to the beach once on a Sunday to just lay out, and the storm clouds moved in at noon, so that was all the sunnin’ this girl got. I always think I am going to get time to blow off work and lay at the beach, which never happens.”
