What a long, strange trip it’s been
It’s hard to fathom that this side project of mine reached a year old recently. It only seems like it’s been 10 years. No, not really.
It’s been challenging and exciting and rewarding all at the same time. We’ve gotten bigger and better with each passing month, I’d like to think, and expanded our delivery route with every issue, now reaching in excess of 450 dropoff locations throughout the North side, from Wicker Park to Lincoln Square and all parts in between.
We’ve reviewed restaurants and plays and festivals, highlighted bars, stores, museums and jobs, interviewed bands and Bears, given advice and taken advice.
And through it all, we’re still here thanks to a lot of good people doing excellent work. It starts with Brian, my designer, who puts up with me looking over his shoulder and making suggestions when I should just keep my trap shut and get him things earlier. To all of my writers listed in the table of contents, your contributions have been well-received and enlightening. To the advertisers, you keep this train running, as you trust me to reach tens of thousands of customers. To Debbie, Mark and my dad for helping in the tedious delivery process, I can’t thank you enough. And to all my friends and readers who have contributed in one way or another, a debt of gratitude is owed.
Here’s saying thanks for a wonderful first year of The Real Chicago and hopefully many more to follow.
