FEATURES

Personalized feature articles on topics that the target readership will find both interesting and informative (previewing local street fairs, the anxiety of an openmic night, planning a company outing, places to meet singles, museum exhibits, a behind-the-scenes look at Second City, real estate tips, etc.).

Chicago’s finest
The closest a lot of Chicagoans have come to gangs is watching the 10:00 news or going to Blockbuster. Publisher Trent Modglin was in the same boat, so he spent the Fourth of July with the Chicago Police Department in one of the roughest neighborhoods in the city to get a glimpse of what he was missing. Turns out, it was quite a bit.

The Restaurant
Brenna Ehrlich spent time with the owner and manager of a new Italian eatery in Bucktown called Il Covo to find out just how difficult the restaurant business is to break into.

A music scene out of reach
Jeremy Schnitker moved here from Omaha recently, in large part because of all the great music Chicago had to offer. Problem is, the numerous options have led to more frustration than good times.

Thax, a Chicago Poet
Dan Ochwat explores Alex MacKenzie’s documentary on Thax Douglas, the city’s iconic poet of the music scene for the last 10 years.

Trusting the Firebug
Kristen Salamon checked out The National Pastime Theatre’s presentation of “The Firebugs,” a story about when good people allow evil things to happen.
